Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security: Be on the alert for online scams targeting minors; illicit funds are being transferred overseas via virtual currencies
Svmuu News: The Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security published an article titled "Beware of Online Fraud Targeting Minors," which reveals a new type of online fraud chain characterized by the typical pattern of "game traffic redirection + impersonating law enforcement + virtual currency money laundering." Criminals place advertisements on gaming and social platforms to induce minors to add them as friends, using intimidation and other means to obtain funds from their parents' accounts. The illicit proceeds are then split and withdrawn through black-market platforms before being used to purchase virtual currencies. These virtual currencies are not bound by geographical restrictions and can silently flow back to overseas fraud dens, creating a "physical barrier" for cross-border fund transfers. The Criminal Investigation Bureau reminds the public that judicial and law enforcement agencies never handle cases online, never intimidate people into making payments, and never demand passwords or verification codes.
