Mirae Asset Consulting Receives Approval to Acquire a 92.06% Stake in Korbit for $98 Million
Svmuu News: South Korean regulators announced that Mirae Asset Consulting has been approved to acquire a 92.06% stake in the South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Korbit for approximately 133.4 billion won, equivalent to about $98 million. This transaction marks the first time a traditional South Korean financial group has completed the acquisition of a virtual asset exchange. Market share data for South Korean cryptocurrency exchanges in 2025 shows that Upbit holds approximately 69%, Bithumb approximately 28%, Coinone approximately 2%, Korbit approximately 0.5%, and Gopax approximately 0.1%.
