Svmuu News: According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, Iranian military spokesman Akramian said Sunday that, under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, responsibility for managing maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz lies with Iran.
He said that the United States’ attempt to impose an unauthorized shipping lane in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz violates its commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. He noted that Washington has a long history of failing to fulfill its international commitments, and that the same issue exists in the current understanding reached between the U.S. and Iran.
Akraminia added that Iran is taking a peaceful and cooperative approach by working with Oman to develop joint navigation arrangements for strategic waterways. He stated that U.S. interference undermines regional security and urged Washington to abide by the memorandum, respect regional stability, and take into account the interests of regional countries.
Akbarinia also warned that every time the U.S. attacks Iranian islands, coastal areas, or facilities, it receives a resolute response, and Saturday night’s U.S. operation was immediately met with retaliation. He further stated that the Iranian Armed Forces have continuously strengthened their combat readiness both before and after the ceasefire, using the ceasefire period to enhance their military capabilities while constantly updating their operational plans to respond to various scenarios. He concluded by warning the United States to cease its destabilizing interventions in the region. (Jin Shi)
