Svmuu News: Japanese convenience store operator Lawson plans to test payments using yen-denominated stablecoins at its Lawson Takanawa Gateway City store in Tokyo in August. HashPort has signed an agreement with Lawson and KDDI to launch the pilot program. Participants will use HashPort’s non-custodial wallets, and stores will process payments through HashPort’s point-of-sale system without needing to set up or manage crypto wallets. Japanese payment company Netstars has launched “Stablecoin Pay,” which is now open for applications from merchants wishing to accept payments in multiple stablecoins. Initially, the service supports USDC, USDT, and the yen-denominated stablecoin JPYC on the Solana and Polygon networks, with MetaMask as the supported wallet. The merchant transaction fee is 0.98%.
