In a letter dated the 10th to congressional leaders, Donald Trump wrote that U.S. forces carried out “defensive strikes” against targets inside Iran on the 7th.Both the Senate and the House of Representatives had previously voted to require the president to end the war or to seek authorization before continuing operations; the White House stated that Donald Trump, as Commander-in-Chief, was acting within his constitutional authority.
