Svmuu News: U.S. officials have revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump has formally approved a major nuclear agreement with Saudi Arabia that will allow Saudi Arabia to develop civilian nuclear programs and may open the door for it to conduct uranium enrichment activities within its borders. The 30-year agreement, estimated to be worth tens of billions of dollars, aims to ensure that U.S. companies play a dominant role in the construction of Saudi Arabia’s nuclear infrastructure while excluding other foreign competitors. One of the key provisions of the agreement is that U.S. companies will be responsible for building uranium enrichment facilities in Saudi Arabia if a joint U.S.-Saudi study deems it necessary.
Donald TrumpGovernment officials say the move will allow the U.S. to maintain influence over Saudi Arabia’s nuclear program and reduce the risk that related technology could be used for military purposes. However, the agreement is expected to be submitted to the U.S. Congress for review in the coming days and may spark opposition from some lawmakers. Opponents are concerned that, against the backdrop of instability in the Middle East, the proliferation of nuclear technology could pose security risks.(The Wall Street Journal reports,)
