Svmuu News: Mizuho analysts stated that if the U.S. cryptocurrency market framework bill, the “Clarity Act,” is passed, while it may be generally beneficial for the digital asset industry, the long-term impact on Circle could be somewhat negative. The reasoning is that regulatory clarity will attract more large institutions into the stablecoin market, further accelerating the commoditization of stablecoins and eroding the revenue potential of USDC, which is operated by Circle.
Mizuho believes that Circle’s primary source of pressure recently has come from Open USD. This stablecoin project is backed by a consortium of more than 140 financial, technology, and crypto companies, including Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, BlackRock, and Coinbase.Unlike Circle’s model, which retains approximately 38% of USDC reserve earnings, Open USD employs a “pass-through” model, distributing nearly all reserve earnings to distributors while retaining only a small management fee.
Analysts also noted that Coinbase, as the largest distributor of USDC and a supporter of Open USD, may gain stronger bargaining power when renegotiating its revenue-sharing agreement with Circle in the future. The distribution agreement between the two parties could be renegotiated as early as next month.

Svmuu News: Benchmark Equity Research raised its price target for Hut 8 from $165 to $195 on Wednesday, citing the full commercialization of the company’s Beacon Point AI data center campus in Texas.
This is the second time this month that Benchmark has raised its price target for Hut 8.Last week, analyst Mark Palmer had already factored in the first phase of the Beacon Point project into his valuation, raising the target price from $85 to $165. The new target price implies an upside of approximately 75% compared to Hut 8’s stock price of about $111 on Wednesday.
Hut 8 has currently secured contracts for 949 megawatts of AI data center capacity, indicating that its business is shifting further away from traditional “Bitcoin” mining toward AI infrastructure and a power-driven data center model.Benchmark believes the company is evolving into a “power-first data center REIT”—an infrastructure platform centered on power resources and data center assets.
Hut 8’s stock price rose about 2% on Wednesday, with a year-to-date gain of nearly 120%. As demand for AI computing power continues to grow, the market is reassessing the value of the large-scale power and data center resources held by “Bitcoin” mining companies.

Svmuu News: The U.S. SEC reached a settlement with Coinbase on Wednesday, ending a years-long legal dispute between the two parties over the handling of record requests during the Gensler era.
According to court documents, the SEC agreed to pay History Associates $150,000 in attorney’s fees and to release two documents that had previously been withheld. In addition, the SEC will review its records management system and the way it preserves communications, such as text messages.
The case originated in 2024 when Coinbase, through the consulting firm History Associates, filed separate lawsuits against the SEC and the FDIC, alleging that the two regulatory agencies had failed to comply with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Coinbase stated that these record requests pertained to whether the regulators were attempting to sever the crypto industry’s ties to the banking system.
Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal stated in a Wall Street Journal op-ed that former SEC Chair Gary Gensler had launched a “litigation campaign” against the crypto industry. During Gensler’s tenure, the SEC sued Coinbase and several crypto companies, accusing them of failing to comply with federal securities registration requirements.
Grewal noted that this settlement has long-term implications, as the FDIC and the SEC are rewriting disclosure and record-keeping practices, which are expected to enhance regulatory transparency and limit the regulators’ ability to excessively expand their authority behind closed doors in the future.

Svmuu News: According to Politico, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill on Wednesday aimed at restricting members of Congress and their family members from buying and selling stocks; however, divisions have emerged within the Democratic Party, as some Democrats believe the bill does not go far enough. The bill, titled the “Stop Insider Trading Act,” is the first congressional stock trading ban to be voted on in a full House session. It ultimately passed by a vote of 232 to 198, with 13 Democratic lawmakers voting in favor. Of the 93 lawmakers who co-sponsored the bill, only two were Democrats. Another bill with stricter provisions—requiring lawmakers and their family members to sell any stocks they currently hold personally—failed to reach a vote on the House floor, despite garnering broader bipartisan support. Most Democrats believe the measure that passed does not go far enough, as it does not include provisions mandating the sale of existing stock holdings. The bill will now be sent to the Senate for consideration. (Jin Shi)

Svmuu News: According to documents filed with the U.S. Federal Election Commission (FEC) by Protect Progress PAC, an affiliate of the cryptocurrency-related political action committee Fairshake, as of Tuesday, it had spent more than $986,000 to support incumbent Democratic Rep. Shri Thanedar in Michigan’s 13th Congressional District and oppose challenger Donavan McKinney.
These expenditures occurred two weeks before the August 4 Democratic primary, which will determine the candidate for the November general election. In 2024, Protect Progress PAC spent approximately $1 million to support Thanedar, who received 54.9% of the vote in the Democratic primary that year and 68.6% in the November general election.
Fairshake and its affiliated organizations reported having $191 million in reserves to influence key elections. Other political action committees linked to the crypto industry include the Fellowship, backed by Cantor Fitzgerald and Anchorage Digital, and the Blockchain Leadership Fund, supported by Anchorage and Chainlink Labs.
The Protect Progress PAC also spent over $100,000 to support Arizona Representative Greg Stanton’s re-election bid. The Defend American Jobs PAC spent over $65,000 to support Republican candidate Amanda McKinney in Washington’s 4th Congressional District.

Svmuu News: Bitcoin News posted on X that Libbitcoin developer @evoskuil stated the latest version of Libbitcoin Server can complete the initial block download for a full node at Bitcoin and perform a full verification within 55 minutes. This speed boost comes from a new GPU-based signature verification system, which runs in parallel with standard script verification rather than as a separate step. The software does not pause execution to verify each ECDSA and Schnorr signature; instead, it captures signature checks, batches them, and processes them via the GPU while the rest of the verification continues. @evoskuil noted that this method achieves a signature capture rate of approximately 99.5% without blocking verification, thereby eliminating the need for a second verification. If a batch of signature checks fails, the software traces it back to the corresponding block and marks that block as invalid. He also noted that this design can batch-process virtually any number of signatures, keeping the GPU ahead of the rest of the validation process and significantly reducing full node synchronization time.

Svmuu News: U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis issued a statement thanking her Democratic colleagues for their important contributions to the revised draft of the CLARITY Act and pledged to continue working toward an agreement in the coming days so that the bill can ultimately become law. Consumer protection and support for innovation are not mutually exclusive; this draft bill demonstrates that both can be achieved simultaneously. Previously, Senate Republicans released the updated version of the CLARITY Act following a briefing call with industry stakeholders. The revised text proposes to prohibit officials—including the President, Vice President, members of Congress, and federal judges—and their spouses from receiving compensation through the issuance or sponsorship of digital assets while in office; the relevant provisions will remain in effect until January 20, 2029. Affected officials would also be required to sell their crypto assets and investments in crypto companies, or place them in a blind trust over which they have no control; the sale of crypto assets valued at more than $1,000 must be disclosed.

Svmuu News: Crypto reporter Eleanor Terrett reports that the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act (BRCA) aligns with the version that passed the Senate Banking Committee in May.
It is reported that the bill continues to clarify that non-custodial software developers and blockchain infrastructure providers will not be considered money transmitters solely for building or maintaining decentralized networks. At the same time, the Loomis-Glasser amendment remains in place, maintaining federal criminal liability for “willfully” facilitating illegal transactions.
Furthermore, provisions related to the “Keep Your Coins Act” remain unchanged, continuing to safeguard users’ right to self-custody of their own crypto assets.
Regarding stablecoin earnings, the bill retains the original compromise, prohibiting companies from paying interest on users’ idle stablecoin balances but allowing rewards tied to actual activities—such as trading or staking rewards—provided they are not economically or functionally equivalent to interest on bank deposits.
The bill also adds new sections related to law enforcement, including increased funding for state and local cryptocurrency investigations and blockchain analysis tools, the establishment of training programs for law enforcement agencies and prosecutors, and the creation of a “cyber center” to address threats from state actors in countries such as North Korea and Iran.
Furthermore, the bill clarifies how digital assets are to be handled in the event of an exchange or custodian’s bankruptcy, ensuring that customer assets remain the property of the customers rather than becoming part of the company’s bankruptcy estate, thereby preventing a recurrence of incidents similar to the FTX collapse.
12:14
Svmuu News: A Fox Business crypto reporter posted on X, stating that the bill outlines the rules for handling digital assets in the event of an exchange or custodian’s bankruptcy. The bill helps ensure that customer assets receive the same protection as traditional financial assets and remain the property of the customers, rather than becoming part of the company’s bankruptcy estate. This could help prevent a recurrence of situations like the FTX collapse.
12:13
Svmuu News: A Fox Business crypto reporter posted on X that the bill includes a new section specifically designed to strengthen law enforcement agencies’ ability to investigate crypto-related crimes. This section will increase funding for state and local cryptocurrency investigations and blockchain analysis tools; establish new training programs for law enforcement and prosecutors; create “cyber centers” to address threats posed by state actors such as North Korea and Iran; form public-private task forces to coordinate efforts against cryptocurrency fraud; and require stablecoin issuers to comply with lawful orders when appropriate, freeze, seize, destroy, and reissue tokens.

Svmuu News: A Fox Business crypto reporter posted on X that U.S. Senate Republicans have just released an updated version of the Clarity Act following a briefing call with stakeholders this morning. The latest text includes key provisions on ethics, BRCA, and other areas that have been the focus of attention.
12:05
Svmuu News: A new provision in the CLARITY Act, currently under consideration by the U.S. Senate, proposes to prohibit the president and other federal officials from issuing or promoting cryptocurrencies and other digital assets.
According to reports, Republican senators updated the bill’s text on Wednesday. The bill is regarded as the first major piece of legislation in the U.S. to comprehensively regulate the digital asset market. This update includes provisions—for the first time—restricting federal officials, including the president, from profiting through cryptocurrency assets.
At present, the specific implementation details and scope of application for this provision have not yet been announced. (CNBC)

Svmuu News: Zach Pandl, Head of Research at Grayscale, wrote that there are currently two main views on when the Bitcoin bear market will end: one follows the “four-year cycle,” and the other views Bitcoin as a mature asset driven by macroeconomic factors. The “four-year cycle” view holds that halving events remain the core driver of Bitcoin price cycles. Historically, Bitcoin typically bottoms out about one year after the cycle peak and approximately 2.5 years after the halving, with an average cumulative drawdown of about 80%.Based on this pattern, Bitcoin may still decline further in this cycle and bottom out in September or October. Another view holds that Bitcoin’s price will henceforth be influenced more by economic growth, real interest rates, and changes in Federal Reserve policy, just like other major assets.Past bear markets in Bitcoin have typically coincided with economic slowdowns or rising real interest rates, and the current downturn is similarly occurring against a backdrop of rising expectations for interest rate hikes and rising real interest rates. Pandl stated that he is more inclined toward the macro-driven view. If the Federal Reserve stops raising interest rates and economic growth remains stable, Bitcoin prices may have already bottomed out.

Svmuu News: Fintech company Revolut has reached a valuation of $115 billion in a secondary stock sale to employees, making it Europe’s most valuable private company.
Revolut reported pre-tax profits of $2.3 billion and revenue of $6 billion for 2025. Its main app allows users to trade over 200 cryptocurrencies, transfer assets to external wallets, and stake their holdings; the company also operates a standalone cryptocurrency exchange, Revolut X.
Revolut recently obtained a full banking license in the UK and is seeking a national bank charter in the U.S. The company is targeting a $200 billion valuation for its IPO.

Svmuu News: The UK plans to issue its first tokenized sovereign bond by early 2027, with the key prerequisite currently being the resolution of on-chain cash settlement issues. This issue has limited institutional use of digital bonds for many years.
Industry experts say the plan may have secured sufficient support from the UK Treasury, the Bank of England, and regulators to move forward despite recent political changes, and could potentially boost demand for UK debt.
Progress is currently hampered by the lack of standardized on-chain payment methods, a mature sterling-pegged stablecoin, and regulatory clarity.
