1. Preparations

Before trading on the OKX DEX, you need to complete the following preparations:

  • Create or import a Web3 wallet: The OKX DEX supports various self-custodial Web3 wallets, such as OKX Wallet, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Phantom, and Rabby. Choose a wallet you trust and ensure you properly back up your mnemonic phrase or private key.
  • Deposit Assets: Deposit the crypto assets you wish to trade into your Web3 wallet, and ensure you have sufficient native network tokens to cover gas fees. For example, transactions on the Ethereum network require ETH for gas fees, while those on the Solana network require SOL.
  • Find the Token Contract Address (Optional): If the token you’re trading isn’t a major cryptocurrency, you may need to look up and add its contract address to your wallet in advance so that it displays correctly.

  2. Click the “Connect Wallet” button on the page.
  3. Select the wallet type you want to connect (such as OKX Wallet or MetaMask) from the pop-up list.

3. Make an Exchange/Trade

Once your wallet is connected, you can begin exchanging tokens:

  1. Select a trading pair: On the DEX page, select the currency you want to pay with (e.g., USDT) and the currency you want to receive (e.g., ETH).
  2. Enter the amount: Enter the amount of the payment currency you want to exchange. The system will automatically display the real-time exchange rate, estimated slippage, minimum amount received, liquidity providers, and any applicable service fees.
  3. Select a trading mode (App): If you’re trading via the OKX app, you can choose between Simple Mode, Meme Mode, Advanced Mode, or Bridge Mode to suit your trading strategy. You can also choose between a market order or a limit order (a limit order may require enabling the Smart Account feature).
  4. Confirm the Transaction: Carefully review all transaction details, including the transaction amount, estimated slippage, and estimated gas fees. Once you’ve confirmed everything is correct, click the “Swap” or “Confirm” button.
  5. Sign in Your Wallet: Your Web3 wallet will display a transaction confirmation prompt; please sign within your wallet to approve the transaction.
  6. Wait for On-Chain Confirmation: After the transaction is submitted to the blockchain network, you’ll need to wait for the network to confirm it. This usually takes a few minutes, though the exact time depends on network congestion. Once the transaction is complete, you can view your newly acquired assets on your wallet’s home page and check the details in your transaction history.

4. Important Notes

  • Gas Fees: Be sure to have sufficient native network tokens in your wallet to cover gas fees. Gas fees may increase significantly during periods of network congestion.
  • Slippage Settings: Slippage is the difference between the final execution price you are willing to accept and the current market price. Setting slippage too low may result in a failed transaction, especially during periods of high market volatility or heavy trading volume.
  • Asset Security: Always keep your wallet mnemonic phrase or private key secure and never disclose it to anyone.
  • Fee Structure: Trading fees on the OKX DEX typically include network (gas) fees, third-party protocol fees, and a 0–0.5% platform service fee (as of July 2026).
