Overview of the BNB Trading Fee Discount Mechanism
BNB (BNB) is the native token of Binance (Binance), the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchange. One of its core functions is to provide trading fee discounts to platform users. This incentive mechanism is designed to encourage users to hold and use BNB, thereby increasing the token’s demand and liquidity. Users can manually enable this feature in their account settings to enjoy the corresponding fee discounts.

Currently, users who choose to pay Spot and Margin trading fees with BNB receive a 25% discount. For Futures trading, the discount rate is 10%. It is worth noting that Binance US (Binance.US) also offers users a 5% trading fee discount. When BNB was first launched, it offered trading fee discounts of up to 50%, which have been gradually adjusted over time.
VIP Levels and Discount Stacking
Binance The VIP user system assigns different tiers based on trading volume and BNB holdings. These VIP tiers already come with lower trading fee rates. When VIP users choose to pay trading fees with BNB, the BNB discount can be stacked on top of the VIP rate, allowing users with high trading volume and BNB holdings to receive even greater total discounts—sometimes as high as 40% or more.
BNB’s Deflationary Mechanism

In addition to trading fee discounts, BNB manages its total supply through a unique deflationary mechanism. This primarily involves two methods:
- Quarterly Auto-Burn: Binance automatically burns BNB on a regular basis based on the price of BNB and the number of blocks in the Binance blockchain during each quarter. This mechanism is designed to gradually reduce the supply from an initial 200 million to 100 million. As of April 15, 2026, Binance had completed its 35th quarterly burn, destroying approximately 1,569,307 BNB.
- Real-Time Burn (BEP-95): The BNB Smart Chain (BSC) has introduced the BEP-95 mechanism, which further accelerates BNB’s deflationary process by burning a portion of the gas fees from each transaction in real time.
Market analysts view these burning mechanisms as a deflationary measure that, in theory, will make BNB scarcer and more valuable over time.

BNB’s Market Performance and Role in the Ecosystem
As of this writing (July 27, 2026), BNB’s real-time price is approximately $574.15, with a market capitalization of approximately $76.456 billion, ranking it fourth in the cryptocurrency market. Its circulating supply is approximately 133,165,639 BNB.BNB reached an all-time high of $1,370.55 on October 13, 2025, while its initial offering price (during the July 2017 ICO) was $0.10. Users can view BNB’s real-time prices and trends on market data platforms such as Svmuu.
In addition to providing trading fee discounts, BNB plays multiple roles within the Binance and BNB Chain ecosystems:
- Fuel for the BNB Chain Ecosystem: BNB serves as the gas fee for the BNB Smart Chain (BSC), opBNB Layer 2s, and the BNB Greenfield blockchain, used to pay for network transactions and smart contract execution.
- Governance: BNB holders can participate in the decentralized on-chain governance of the BNB Chain, voting on important protocol upgrades and parameter adjustments.
- Launchpad/Launchpool: Holding BNB serves as an “entry ticket” to participate in Binance’s Launchpad (IEO) platform and Launchpool (new project mining platform), giving users the opportunity to acquire newly issued tokens.
- Staking: Users can participate in network operations and earn rewards by staking BNB.
- Other Platform Fees: BNB can also be used to pay for withdrawal fees, listing fees, and other charges on the Binance platform.
- BNB Vault: Users can deposit BNB into investment products such as the BNB Vault to earn passive income.

Market analysts generally believe that BNB’s value is closely tied to the overall success of Binance as the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange and its robust infrastructure.
