Svmuu News: Samsung SDS announced on the 20th that it has launched a service-based NPU (NPUaaS) based on FuriosaAI’s second-generation neural network processor, Renegade (RGND), on the Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP). Renegade is a South Korean-developed NPU designed for AI inference, used in tasks such as generating responses from pre-trained AI models, document analysis, and image classification.
Samsung SDS stated that NPUaaS customers do not need to purchase NPU servers directly or build their own data centers; instead, they can use the service via a subscription model through SCP. Enterprises can select 1, 2, 4, or 8 NPUs based on their needs and data volume, and use them in conjunction with SCP’s high-performance storage, computing, and high-speed networking products.
Samsung SDS also noted that this NPUaaS will be provided within the SCP Sovereign Cloud environment to support public sector customers subject to strict security regulations. Lee Ho-jun, Head of the Cloud Services Division at Samsung SDS, stated that the company will continue to expand its SCP-based product portfolio.
