The South Korean government launched legislative discussions today on the "Digital Asset Framework Act," with a focus on the regulation of stablecoins.
Svmuu News: The South Korean government will hold a forum today, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Strategy and Finance Choi Sang-moo, to officially launch legislative discussions on the “Framework Act on Digital Assets (Phase II),” with a focus on stablecoin regulation. This is the first stablecoin legislative forum hosted and organized by the government. The South Korean government and the ruling Democratic Party of Korea plan to push for the bill’s passage within this year. In the 2026 Economic Growth Strategy announced on July 14, authorities stated their intention to advance legislation for the “Digital Asset Framework Act” in the second half of the year, with the aim of segmenting the digital asset industry, establishing a regulatory framework for business conduct, and laying the legal foundation for the standardization of stablecoin regulation.
