Svmuu News: The São Paulo State Prosecutor’s Office in Brazil has filed a civil lawsuit against “World” developer Tools for Humanity and Amazon AWS Serviços Brasil, accusing them of illegally collecting iris data from more than 400,000 people in São Paulo.
The prosecution stated that participants received rewards ranging from 300 to 700 reais in exchange for iris scans. The prosecution is demanding a halt to the practice of exchanging iris data for payment or other benefits, the permanent deletion of the collected information, and the payment of at least 240 million reais (approximately $47.2 million) in collective compensation for emotional distress.
