Svmuu News: On July 24, prediction market operator Kalshi sent a cease-and-desist letter to Netflix, alleging that the trailer for its new documentary *Instadocs: The Prediction Games* constitutes defamation and demanded that the trailer be removed and a public retraction issued before the film’s premiere on July 26.
Kalshi claims that the trailer uses a doctored transaction slip to imply that it permits sports betting in Nevada, thereby violating a state court order. The company states that the receipt shown in the footage is dated May 16, 2025, and the phone interface displays “crop,” which does not match its platform’s design.
Netflix denied that the footage was fabricated, stating that the relevant transactions took place in May 2025—before Nevada’s restrictions took effect—and that the scene was filmed at a private event in Las Vegas. Nevada regulators have required Kalshi to complete the deployment of geofencing by August 12; otherwise, it will be subject to a daily fine of $120,000.
