The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) announced its achievements in the first year of its 5-year strategy, detailed in its Annual Report and Accounts. The regulator led an international crackdown on illegal finfluencer promotions, resulting in 3 arrests and 650 social media takedown requests. Additionally, the FCA secured a combined 11 years in prison for two insider dealing cases.
The FCA estimates these efforts have delivered £5.6 billion in benefits to consumers, firms, and the wider economy. Key consumer protection initiatives include the launch of Firm Checker, a tool used over 1.9 million times since January 2025 to help consumers verify authorized firms, and new rules for Buy Now Pay Later products set to take effect in July 2026.
