U.S. long-term government bond yields remained near multi-decade highs after a volatile week, despite efforts by the U.S. Treasury to stabilize the market. The 30-year government bond yield, which touched a near 20-year closing high of 5.311% on Monday, fell back to around 5.23% on Friday. This followed a brief market relief after the U.S. Treasury announced plans to double the size of long-term bond buybacks to at least $4 billion per operation. Investors remain concerned that U.S. debt has surpassed $40 trillion.
