Salesforce announced second-quarter results and guidance that exceeded Wall Street expectations. For the quarter ended July 31, the company's revenue increased by 11% year-over-year, and net income surged by 87% to $3.53 billion ($4.29 per share) from $1.89 billion ($1.96 per share) in the same period last year. Of this, a strategic investment in AI startup Anthropic contributed $2.6 billion in gains. Anthropic completed an equity financing round in May, valuing it at $965 billion. Salesforce expects adjusted earnings per share for the third quarter to be between $3.42 and $3.44, with revenue between $11.42 billion and $11.5 billion, both higher than analysts' estimates.
