Flow (FLOW) Blockchain Overview
Flow (FLOW) is a Layer-1 blockchain platform developed by Dapper Labs, a well-known blockchain gaming company and the creator of NBA Top Shot.It aims to address the challenges of existing blockchains in terms of scalability, user experience, and developer-friendliness, with a particular focus on providing high-performance infrastructure for NFTs, digital collectibles, on-chain games, and other consumer-grade decentralized applications (dApps).

Core Technology and Architecture
The Flow blockchain employs a unique multi-role node architecture that distributes functions such as consensus, validation, execution, and collection to different node types, thereby achieving high throughput and low latency while maintaining decentralization. Its native programming language, Cadence, is specifically designed for smart contracts and digital assets, emphasizing security and ease of use.Recently, through the Crescendo upgrade, Flow achieved full Ethereum Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility, which has significantly expanded its ecosystem, allowing developers to leverage existing EVM tools and applications.
Ecosystem and Applications

The Flow ecosystem is renowned for its strong brand partnerships and diverse use cases. It has established partnerships with globally recognized brands such as the NBA, NFL, UFC, and Dr. Seuss, and supports major NFT platforms like NBA Top Shot and NFL All Day.To further drive ecosystem development, Flow launched a $725 million ecosystem fund on May 10, 2022, to accelerate innovative projects on the platform through investments, FLOW token grants, and in-kind support.Additionally, on September 15, 2025, Zapper, a South African mobile payment and loyalty platform, partnered with Flow to launch a commercial media solution leveraging Flow’s infrastructure.
Recent Developments and Roadmap
- AI Infrastructure Deployment: Flow’s core roadmap theme for 2026 is to transform it into an AI blockchain, with plans to provide robust support for AI-native applications by implementing features such as parallel execution and the Claude Code Plugin.
- Protocol Upgrade: On July 27, 2026, Flow conducted a protocol upgrade designed to reduce supply inflation by approximately 171,000 FLOW tokens per month and to link the reward mechanism to network fees, thereby enhancing the sustainability of the token economy.
- Enhanced Interoperability: In January 2025, Flow significantly enhanced cross-chain interoperability through integrations with LayerZero and Axelar, enabling seamless connectivity to over 100 other blockchain networks.
- DeFi Ecosystem Growth: As of January 2025, DeFi activity on Flow continued to grow; for example, Trado’s monthly trading volume exceeded $10 million, and the locked liquidity in the KittyPunch farm surpassed $3.5 million.
- Data Analytics Integration: Leading data platform Dune Analytics officially integrated Flow on June 18, 2026; users can now track activity data on Flow EVM and Cadence.
- Industry Event Participation: Flow plans to attend ETHGlobal NYC as a key participant from August 14 to 17, 2026. Its Chief Architect, Dieter Shirley, will deliver a presentation introducing the Forte initiative, which aims to unlock a new generation of consumer-grade crypto applications.
