LDO Token Introduction and Core Functions
LDO is the native governance token of Lido DAO, a leading decentralized liquid staking solution. The Lido protocol aims to address the entry barriers to Ethereum 2.0 (now known as the Consensus Layer) staking, allowing users to participate in Ethereum staking without locking up 32 ETH or maintaining complex validator infrastructure. After staking ETH in the Lido protocol, users receive an equivalent amount of liquid staking tokens, stETH, which can be traded on secondary markets or used in various decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, thereby enhancing the liquidity and capital efficiency of staked assets.

As the governance token of Lido DAO, LDO grants holders voting rights over the future direction of the protocol. This includes, but is not limited to, key decisions such as managing the protocol's fee parameters, determining revenue distribution methods, and adding or removing node operators. The Lido protocol currently primarily supports liquid staking for Ethereum and Polygon networks, and has recently ceased support for Solana.
