XRP Recent Market Performance and Key Catalysts
As of August 12, 2026, the price of XRP is approximately $1.03. It previously reached a high of $3.40 in January 2026, followed by a correction. Market attention on XRP primarily focuses on the capital inflows into its spot ETF, the resolution of the lawsuit with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the development of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) ecosystem.

The long-standing lawsuit between Ripple and the SEC was fully resolved in August 2025, confirming that XRP is not a security in the retail market, which removed a major legal uncertainty for XRP. Subsequently, the first U.S. spot XRP ETFs were launched in November 2025, providing new investment channels for institutional investors.
In terms of ecosystem, XRPL showed strong growth in stablecoins, tokenized assets, and payment activities in Q1 2026. Ripple's USD-backed stablecoin, RLUSD, reached a market capitalization of $1.6 billion by August 2026, becoming the largest stablecoin on XRPL. Additionally, XRPL released version 3.3.0 in August 2026, introducing privacy and institution-oriented features aimed at attracting more tokenized financial assets.
XRP Spot ETF Capital Flows and Institutional Interest

Since its launch in November 2025, U.S. spot XRP ETFs have accumulated net inflows exceeding $1.4 billion. As of August 2026, seven XRP spot ETFs collectively hold approximately 992.5 million XRP, accounting for about 0.99% of the total XRP supply, with a total asset under management close to $1 billion. Goldman Sachs disclosed holding $153.8 million worth of spot XRP ETF positions in March 2026, making it one of the largest known institutional holders in the U.S.
However, it is worth noting that monthly inflows into XRP ETFs have recently shown a sharp decline. From $650 million in November 2025, it dropped to approximately $132 million in May 2026, further decreasing to $27 million in July, and only about $1 million so far in August, a staggering 99.8% decline. This sharp reduction in inflows suggests that institutional demand may be slowing, or some demand is being met through over-the-counter (OTC) markets, thereby suppressing the impact on exchange liquidity.
Progress of the Digital Assets Market Clarity Act
The Digital Assets Market Clarity Act (CLARITY Act), aimed at classifying XRP as a digital commodity, passed the Senate Banking Committee with bipartisan support in May 2026. The passage of this bill is expected to further clarify XRP's regulatory status, removing its regulatory ambiguity as a "digital commodity." However, as of August 2026, the bill's chances of passing a procedural vote on September 15 are only 16%, and its failure would eliminate a significant regulatory catalyst for XRP.

Can XRP Break $3? Divided Market Views
XRP reached an all-time high of $3.65 in 2025. Currently, XRP's price hovers around $1.03, a drop of over 65% from its January 2026 high of $3.40. To reach $3, XRP needs to rise approximately 194% from its current August price.
- Optimistic View: Some analysts have predicted that XRP could reach at least $3 at some point in 2026. They believe that if the CLARITY Act successfully passes and spot ETFs attract capital inflows at a similar rate to early Bitcoin ETFs, XRP could return to near its all-time high of $2.20, or even reach $3.00. Some models even predict that if the XRP network processes trillions of dollars in global payments, its price could range between $5 and $4300 to ensure sufficient liquidity.
- Cautious/Bearish View: XRP currently faces strong bearish pressure, with significantly reduced ETF inflows and the stagnation of the CLARITY Act being the main reasons for the price decline. Analysts point out that even if the CLARITY Act passes, monthly XRP ETF inflows would need to recover to around $300 million per month for XRP to reach $3, which currently seems unlikely. XRP faced the risk of falling below the key support level of $1.05 in June 2026 and could further decline towards $0.88 or even $0.75.

Overall, whether XRP can break $3 will depend on whether future ETF capital inflows can resume strong growth, the ultimate fate of the CLARITY Act, and whether the XRPL ecosystem can continue to expand institutional adoption. Amid multiple uncertainties, the market remains cautious about XRP's future trajectory.
