Introduction and History of Sollet Wallet
Sollet Wallet was a non-custodial web wallet created in 2020 by the Project Serum team, a decentralized exchange (DEX). It was once an important tool in the Solana blockchain ecosystem, allowing users to manage Solana (SOL) and SPL tokens within its ecosystem, send and receive funds, and connect to various decentralized applications (DApps) on Solana. As an open-source wallet, Sollet was initially designed for developers and advanced users, offering high customizability and advanced features.
Features and Decline
Sollet Wallet's core advantage lay in its non-custodial nature, meaning users had full control over their private keys, backed up by a 24-word seed phrase, with local password encryption providing an additional layer of security. It also supported hardware wallets, further enhancing asset security. In 2021, Sollet was one of the preferred wallets for Solana users seeking self-custody.

However, with the rapid development of the Solana ecosystem, Sollet Wallet's user experience was perceived as less intuitive than emerging wallets like Phantom. Its general-purpose architecture failed to provide specialized features deeply integrated with Solana, leading to its gradual replacement by more specialized wallets. A critical turning point occurred in 2022: Sollet's bridging functionality was deprecated in October 2022, followed by the discontinuation of its official website, Sollet.io, in December 2022. By 2023, Sollet Wallet had largely ceased active use, with wallets like Solflare becoming the new community standard. After the FTX incident in November 2022, some users also reported being unable to access the Sollet.io web wallet and were advised to migrate their assets.
Asset Migration and Risk Warning
Although Sollet Wallet's official website is offline and the project is no longer actively maintained, due to its non-custodial nature, users' funds are not inaccessible. Users holding their Sollet Wallet's 24-word seed phrase can still import it into other Solana-compatible non-custodial wallets like Phantom or Solflare, thereby regaining full control over their digital assets. Before conducting any transactions or asset management, users should verify the latest project information on market data platforms like Svmuu to ensure operational security.
