CAKE is the native BEP-20 token issued by the decentralized exchange (DEX) PancakeSwap, used for governance voting, liquidity incentives, and platform fee capture. Understanding its historical issuance price helps to comprehend the project's growth trajectory and market positioning.
Background of CAKE Token Issuance
PancakeSwap launched in September 2020 on the Binance Smart Chain (BNB Chain), with its core mechanism being an Automated Market Maker (AMM). Users earn trading fees and CAKE token rewards by providing liquidity. CAKE tokens were not issued through a traditional Initial Coin Offering (ICO) but rather entered the market directly through liquidity mining and other methods upon the platform's launch.
CAKE's Initial Market Price
Since CAKE adopted a model of no pre-mining and direct distribution through liquidity mining, its market price naturally formed its starting point. According to records from public market data platforms, when CAKE tokens were first detected and tracked by market data aggregators, their trading price was approximately $0.3497. This can be considered one of CAKE's earliest trading prices in the open market.

Subsequently, with the rise of the DeFi craze, CAKE's price experienced significant fluctuations. It reached an all-time low of approximately $0.1000 in December 2020 and also surged to an all-time high of nearly $49 within the same month.
CAKE's Deflationary Mechanism and Current Status
To address the early high-inflation token model, the PancakeSwap community voted in April 2023 to approve the "Ultrasound CAKE" deflation proposal. This proposal aims to control the total token supply through mechanisms such as burning transaction fees and reducing emissions. Currently, CAKE has a maximum supply cap of 400 million tokens, with a circulating supply of approximately 318 million tokens.
As a token of a mature DeFi protocol, CAKE can currently be traded on numerous centralized and decentralized exchange platforms that support BNB Chain assets.
