On January 2 local time, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a senior official with Yemen’s Houthi armed group, stated that there have been some new developments in the current situation in Yemen. The goal of the relevant parties is to “wear down and destroy the remaining infrastructure.” The Houthi movement “is prepared” to support the advancement of “peace arrangements” in Sana’a, which is under its control, and emphasized that such efforts should be premised on avoiding bloodshed. He also noted that any peace initiative should be based on a “fair framework,” be open to all parties, and prevent the situation from escalating. He added that the focus of related actions should remain on “opposing Israel and supporting Jerusalem.”
