On December 23, 2025, a pilot for Air India tested positive for alcohol in a breathalyzer test prior to operating a flight from Vancouver, Canada, to New Delhi, India, and was found to be “under the influence of alcohol.” The pilot was subsequently replaced on short notice, and a relief pilot took over the flight. The Canadian government classified the incident as a “serious incident” and required Air India to provide the Canadian authorities with the results of the investigation and specific measures to prevent a recurrence by January 26, 2026.
