Guangdong's Culture and Tourism Sector Generated Nearly 10 Billion Yuan During the New Year's Holiday
On January 3, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism released preliminary estimates indicating that during the 2026 New Year’s Day holiday, the province welcomed 17.875 million visitors, representing a year-on-year increase of 34.8% in daily average visitor numbers, and generated tourism revenue of 9.98 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year increase of 39.8% in daily average revenue. Scenic spots rated 4A or higher across the province received 5.561 million visitors, with a daily average increase of 15.3% year-on-year. The 80 key public cultural institutions included in the monitoring received 778,000 citizens and tourists, with a daily average increase of 15.4% year-on-year. (21st Century Business Herald)
