Brazil recognizes Rodríguez as Venezuela's leader
On the afternoon of the 3rd (local time), the Brazilian government held a meeting to discuss the situation in Venezuela. Attendees included Maria da Rosa, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Defense Minister José Mucio; and Justice Minister Ricardo Lewandowski. President Lula and the Brazilian Ambassador to Venezuela participated via video conference.At a press conference following the meeting, Da Rosa stated that the Brazilian government recognizes Venezuelan Vice President Rodríguez as the current head of the Venezuelan government. No Brazilian citizens were injured in the U.S. military strike that occurred on the 3rd, and there have been no reports of Brazilian citizens being unable to leave the country.When asked to comment on the statement by Donald Trump that it would take over Venezuela, Darrocha said the government would continue to monitor developments.
