According to the China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Shanghai Railway Group”), the 2026 New Year’s Day holiday concluded on January 3, with 3.459 million passengers transported that day. Over the three-day period (January 1–3, 2026), the Yangtze River Delta railway network transported 9.748 million passengers, averaging 3.249 million passengers per day. As the first day of this year’s New Year’s Day holiday coincided with January 1, with passenger flows for holiday family visits and commuting overlapping with those for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day leisure travel. Passenger volume exceeded 3.5 million on December 31, the day before the holiday began, and reached as high as 3.766 million on January 1, breaking the single-day passenger volume record for the Yangtze River Delta railway system on New Year’s Day for two consecutive days.
