On January 4, the Information Office of the Beijing Municipal People’s Government held a press conference on Beijing’s air quality. According to the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, in 2025, the number of days with good or excellent PM2.5 air quality reached 348, an increase of 144 days compared to 2013—equivalent to nearly five additional months. The proportion of days with good or excellent PM2.5 air quality rose from 55.9% to 95.3%. Notably, from March to October 2025, PM2.5 levels remained at "good" or "excellent" for 227 consecutive days—a stretch of nearly eight months—far exceeding the 13 days recorded in 2013 and marking the longest such period since monitoring began.
