Toyota Motor Corporation has asked its employees in Venezuela to work from home in response to the ongoing political turmoil in the country. A spokesperson said that local employees have been instructed to work remotely, but did not disclose how many employees the company has in Venezuela. The company stated that this arrangement has not affected sales or production. Toyota’s manufacturing facility in Cumaná, Venezuela, previously produced models including the Corolla, but the plant has faced repeated operational disruptions due to Venezuela’s prolonged economic crisis. By the time the company briefly suspended production in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, its annual output had fallen to just a few hundred vehicles.
