Shares of cloud technology company CoreWeave could get a boost from a massive funding round by its client, OpenAI. D.A. Davidson analyst Gil Luria upgraded the stock from “Underperform” to “Neutral” and significantly raised his price target from $36 to $68. The analyst noted that while it cannot be concluded that OpenAI’s rumored $100 billion funding round will definitely succeed, if it does materialize, OpenAI will be able to fulfill all of its commitments through 2026, including its contractual obligations to CoreWeave. Luria stated, “While this won’t resolve the inherent value destruction issues in CoreWeave’s business, it will push back the timing of when those risks materialize.”
