On January 5–6, the National Health and Wellness Work Conference was held in Beijing. The conference emphasized the need to creatively implement groundbreaking policy measures, comprehensively advance the strategy of prioritizing health development, accurately balance investment in infrastructure with investment in people, and scientifically and efficiently formulate the 15th Five-Year Plan; We will spare no effort in advancing the implementation of policies to deepen healthcare reform, promote public hospital reforms guided by the principle of public welfare, intensify efforts to build integrated county-level medical consortiums and urban medical groups, and support the provincial-level pooling of basic medical insurance funds. Efforts must be made to optimize policies and incentives supporting childbirth, promote a positive view of marriage and childbearing, coordinate the development of universal childcare and integrated childcare-preschool services, distribute child-rearing subsidies, and improve maternal and child health services to stabilize the scale of the newborn population. We will strengthen monitoring, early warning, and emergency response for key infectious diseases; enhance infectious disease prevention and control capabilities in port cities and high-risk areas; and increase influenza vaccination rates and immunization levels among key populations. We will reinforce the integrated prevention, treatment, and management of multiple diseases to mitigate the harm caused by chronic diseases. (National Health Commission)
