The National Water Resources Work Conference was held on January 5–6. Li Guoying, Minister of Water Resources, stated that in 2025, China’s annual investment in water conservancy construction reached 1.2848 trillion yuan, marking the fourth consecutive year that annual investment in water conservancy construction exceeded one trillion yuan. Li Guoying noted that in 2025, China implemented 47,563 water conservancy projects, creating 3.15 million jobs. Specifically, the feasibility studies for the first phase of the Taipu River follow-up project and the Liaodong Peninsula Water Resources Allocation Project in Liaoning were approved; adjustments and construction of flood discharge zones in the Fushan and Xiawo sections of the Huai River mainstem were carried out; 27 major projects, including the Sichuan Yinda-Jimin Water Diversion Project, commenced construction; and the diversion tunnel of the Yellow River Guxian Water Conservancy Hub Project was successfully completed. Of particular note is that in 2025, the China Water Rights Exchange recorded 14,000 transactions and a traded water volume of 1.61 billion cubic meters, setting a new historical high and highlighting the success of China’s innovative exploration of water conservation mechanisms.
