From Peripherals to an AI Ecosystem: Razer Gears Up After Going Private, Plans to Invest $600 Million to Rebrand
Razer, the gaming peripherals company that completed its privatization in 2022, unveiled a series of AI-driven new products at CES, aiming to undergo a far-reaching brand repositioning centered on AI. The new product lineup is extensive, ranging from a headset designed to compete with smart glasses to a high-performance workstation computer built to handle intensive AI workloads. While some products are aimed at general consumers, others—such as the open-source AI developer kit—target programmers and business customers. Razer co-founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan stated that AI represents a multibillion-dollar opportunity for Razer. In a pre-CES interview, he revealed that Razer plans to invest over $600 million in the AI sector over the next few years and is currently hiring approximately 150 AI scientists.
