U.S. Senator Investigates Binance for Allegedly Facilitating Transactions Linked to Iran
Svmuu News: Richard Blumenthal, the top Democrat on the U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee’s investigative subcommittee, has launched an investigation into Binance following reports that the platform may be involved in sanctions evasion related to Iran.In a letter to Binance CEO Richard Teng, Blumenthal requested documents regarding records of Iranian users’ use of Binance, internal compliance investigation materials, and details regarding the termination of relevant employees.Media reports indicate that Binance’s compliance team had previously discovered that its partners, Hexa Whale and Blessed Trust, were being used as money laundering intermediaries and provided transaction channels for entities linked to the Iranian government. Employees involved in the investigation were reportedly disciplined or dismissed, while Binance has denied the allegations.
