The United States issues a 30-day maritime Russian oil purchase license
Svmuu News The U.S. Department of the Treasury has issued a 30-day license, allowing countries to purchase Russian oil and petroleum products currently stranded at sea. U.S. Treasury Secretary Besant stated that this move aims to stabilize the global energy market, which has been volatile due to the conflict with Iran, and that this short-term measure will not bring significant economic benefits to the Russian government. The license text indicates that the permit issued on Thursday authorizes the transportation and sale of Russian crude oil and petroleum products loaded on vessels starting from March 12, with validity lasting until midnight Eastern Time on April 11. Previously, the U.S. Department of the Treasury had granted a special 30-day exemption for India on March 5, allowing New Delhi to purchase Russian oil stranded at sea. (Jin10)
