Polkadot Upgrades Token Issuance Model, Sets Maximum Supply of DOT at 2.1 Billion
Svmuu News Svmuu Polkadot announced on platform X that its token issuance model upgrade officially took effect on March 14. This protocol update introduces several key adjustments, including setting the maximum supply of the native token DOT at 2.1 billion. Currently, approximately 80% of the tokens have been issued. Concurrently, the issuance rate of DOT was reduced by about 53% in a one-time adjustment on March 14, with plans for further gradual reductions in the future. It is reported that these adjustments were proposed by the community and approved through the OpenGov governance mechanism, aiming to limit long-term issuance scale while maintaining network incentive mechanisms, and to provide the market with a more transparent and predictable token issuance path.
