Svmuu News: Amy Oldenburg, Head of Digital Asset Strategy at Morgan Stanley, stated at the DC Blockchain Summit that the professional adoption of crypto funds is still in its early stages. Data shows that 80% of the distribution on the platform comes from retail self-directed trading, not from accounts managed by financial advisors.
Oldenburg mentioned that Morgan Stanley has been offering Bitcoin ETFs in brokerage accounts since August 2024 and is currently considering adding products like Ethereum or Solana to the platform. She described this process as a "very managed and gradual journey" and pointed out that significant educational efforts are still needed to help financial advisors understand the role of digital assets within traditional asset allocation models.
Previously, Morgan Stanley's Global Investment Committee had suggested that crypto asset allocation could reach up to 4% in certain portfolios. Institutions such as Bank of America, BlackRock, and Fidelity also support allocating 1% to 4% of crypto assets in diversified accounts.
