British Media: Iran Prefers Negotiations with Vance, Accuses Kushner and Witkof of "Betrayal"
According to a report by the British Daily Telegraph, Iran has refused to negotiate with U.S. Middle East envoy Witkof and Trump's son-in-law Kushner, accusing them of "betrayal." Gulf sources indicate that Iran will not sit down with Witkof and Kushner because Tehran came under military attack just hours after their meeting in February. U.S. Vice President Vance has largely remained silent during this conflict. If negotiations resume later this week in Islamabad, Pakistan, Vance is seen as the leading candidate for chief negotiator. "Vance is the preferred choice," a Gulf source said regarding Iran's stance. "They do not want to work with Kushner and Witkof because they betrayed their trust." The source added that Iran believes Vance will honor his commitments, and his involvement is considered appropriate for negotiations with Iranian Parliament Speaker Kalibaf. The vice president potentially taking over as the new head of the U.S. negotiation team suggests the White House aims to avoid further economic losses and ease tensions, although the strategy to end the war remains unclear.
