Number of Vessels Passing Through the Strait of Hormuz Rises to Highest Level Since Early March
Svmuu News According to foreign media reports, traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has risen to its highest level since the early days of the Middle East conflict, as more countries have reached security transit agreements with Iran. A total of 21 vessels passed through the waterway over the weekend, marking the highest two-day total since traffic began declining in early March. Although the current number of transiting vessels remains significantly below pre-war levels (approximately 135), more countries have now obtained transit permits. A senior crude oil analyst at Singapore-based Kpler stated, "While responding to requests from its partner countries, Iran is also strengthening its control over the Strait of Hormuz. Transit remains dependent on Iran's will, and the situation could change at any time if the conflict escalates." So far, most vessels granted passage appear to be following routes designated by Tehran, sailing close to the Iranian coast. However, an increasing number of vessels are also beginning to choose routes along the opposite shore. (Jin10)
