Svmuu News Robinhood's private market fund, Robinhood Ventures I, has rebounded approximately 30% after a poor initial performance. The product, launched in early March, fell 16% on its first day but has since gradually recovered, aiming to provide retail investors with access to late-stage private company equity.
However, analysts warn that with potential IPOs from tech giants like SpaceX, OpenAI, and Anthropic approaching, the private market may face short-term volatility pressure. If leading companies perform poorly in their public listings, it could drag down secondary market valuations and impact IPO expectations for unicorns including Stripe.
The head of Robinhood Ventures stated that the aforementioned concerns are more related to short-term fluctuations, and significant long-term investment opportunities still exist. They believe that with the continuous advancement of AI technology, the application ecosystem built around leading models will unleash enormous growth potential. Currently, the fund primarily invests in a select number of late-stage companies, including fintech firms Airwallex and Stripe, as well as AI enterprise Databricks, acquiring equity through primary market transactions or permitted secondary market trades.
Additionally, Robinhood previously attempted to offer European investors exposure to companies like OpenAI and SpaceX through tokenized stocks, but OpenAI publicly denied any partnership, sparking controversy. Currently, Robinhood Ventures is more focused on the traditional equity investment path, striving to enter the shareholder structure of high-quality startups. (Fortune)
