Japanese Media: Japan Considers Releasing Another 20 Days' Worth of Oil Reserves
Svmuu News According to a report by Japan's Kyodo News on Thursday, due to the uncertain prospects for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz despite the U.S.-Iran ceasefire, Japan is considering releasing approximately another 20 days' worth of oil reserves as early as May. Japan relies on the Middle East for about 95% of its oil supply. Since March 16, Japan has begun releasing its oil reserves through domestic coordination and cooperation with other countries. Japan has released a total of about 50 days' worth of oil and has requested the International Energy Agency to consider coordinating the release of a second batch of reserves. Currently, Japan's oil reserves are still sufficient to last for 230 days. (Jin10)
