Svmuu News: The Sentinel Action Fund, a U.S. super political action committee (PAC) backed by the Solana Institute, announced it will invest $8 million to support Republican candidate Jon Husted in his campaign for the Ohio Senate seat, challenging long-time crypto industry critic Sherrod Brown.
Sentinel stated that the funds will be deployed jointly with its affiliated organization, Right Vote, to promote the election of candidates who support pro-crypto policies. Husted has consistently publicly supported digital asset innovation, advocating for a "regulatory framework conducive to innovation" and backing relevant legislation including the GENIUS Act.
Regarding funding sources, Sentinel has received support from crypto capital firms such as Multicoin Capital, with the Solana Institute and Multicoin contributing $750,000 and $250,000 respectively. Additionally, traditional finance figures like Stephen Schwarzman and Kenneth Fisher have also participated in the funding.
Notably, super PACs from the crypto industry are continuously increasing their political investments. Previously, a candidate supported by Fairshake successfully defeated Brown in the 2024 election. As the 2026 midterm elections approach, crypto capital is accelerating its efforts to push pro-crypto policy candidates into the U.S. legislative system. (The Block)
