Svmuu News: According to data from the shipping analysis firm Lloyd's List, most cargo ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz in recent days have used the route close to the coastline mandated by Iran, which is part of Iran's plan to control the waterway. Since April 13, approximately 15 of the 27 large merchant vessels tracked by the firm have used this route; none have used non-Iranian mainstream routes. Other vessels have been traveling to and from the Iranian port of Abadan, which is situated directly on the Strait. The data also shows that 81% of the ships transiting the Strait since April have had ties to Iran. The oil tanker RHN, subject to U.S. sanctions, entered the Persian Gulf on Wednesday and was still sailing near the Iranian coast on Thursday, with no destination specified. A Lloyd’s analyst stated, “Ships are still passing through every day, and most of them are linked to Iran.” (Jin Shi)
