U.S. Intelligence Report: War with Iran May Be Motive Behind Trump Dinner Shooting Suspect
Svmuu reported that, according to Reuters, citing an intelligence report sent to state and local law enforcement agencies and other federal entities across the United States, the Department of Homeland Security has identified the U.S.-Israel war with Iran as a potential motive for the suspect in last month's attempted assassination at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. The suspect is accused of plotting to assassinate Trump and high-ranking government officials. The preliminary assessment report, issued on April 27 by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis, states that suspect Cole Allen "harbored multiple social and political grievances." The report determined that the Iran conflict "may have contributed to his decision to carry out the attack," citing Allen’s social media posts criticizing U.S. actions in the war. The report, marked as a "significant incident description," was obtained through a public records request by the transparency nonprofit organization "Property of the People." (Jin Shi)
