A suspect disguised as a courier approached, and when the victim opened the door, five hooded accomplices rushed in and attempted to forcefully shove her into a vehicle. A neighbor intervened upon hearing screams, causing the suspects to flee. Police later intercepted a ride-hailing car, arresting two suspects, Mateo V. and Walid H., and seizing fake handguns, zip ties, and masks.
Data from the French Central Directorate of the Judicial Police shows that since January 1, 2026, France has recorded 41 cases of kidnapping or attempted kidnapping related to cryptocurrency.
