At 3 a.m. on May 30, the suspects used the victim's phone to send a message to his wife, demanding a $2 million cryptocurrency ransom. Because the family failed to pay, the suspects beat and suffocated the victim. At 11 a.m. that day, the victim's body was found in the back seat of a Toyota Prius in a wasteland in Langko District.
