Svmuu News: Google (GOOG.O) shares fell on Monday after yet another prominent AI leader left the company to join a competitor. Google DeepMind Vice President John Jumper announced over the weekend that he would be leaving to join Anthropic. Following the news, Alphabet’s stock price fell as much as 7.2%, marking its largest intraday decline since February.
Just last week, Noam Shazeer, one of Google’s most prominent researchers, announced his departure to join OpenAI.As Alphabet’s stock price fell, large-cap tech stocks also performed weakly overall. Jumper was awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his research achievements in the field of artificial intelligence and is also one of the core members of Google’s AI programming and development team.
