Hynix fell more than 12% today; the size of Southern’s double-leveraged long position in Hynix is approaching $17 billion.
Svmuu News: On-chain analyst Ai Yi posted on X that the “Southern Double Long SK Hynix” is a Hong Kong-listed leveraged ETF launched by Southern East Capital. Since its listing last October, it has surged more than 10-fold this year, and currently has assets under management of nearly $17 billion, tracking twice the daily performance of SK Hynix’s underlying stock. If SK Hynix’s stock price fluctuates by 5% in a single day, the ETF would need to rebalance $1.7 billion, while SK Hynix’s trading volume yesterday alone reached $11.2 billion. South Korean regulators have indicated they are considering separate measures for this type of leveraged ETF; as a result, the share price of the Southern Double SK Hynix Long ETF fell.
