Williams said, “Given that inflation is elevated, we must sustainably return it to the long-term 2% target.The current monetary policy stance is fully capable of achieving this goal.” Williams noted that inflation is “undoubtedly elevated” and well above the Committee’s 2% target. He expects inflation data to ease slightly in the coming quarters, although significant risks remain.
