Svmuu News: Morningstar analyst Jing Jie Yu said that market uncertainty regarding the potential capital expenditures of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix may be putting pressure on their stock prices. He noted that the combined capital expenditures of these two companies over the next decade could reach approximately 2000 trillion won, nearly double Morningstar’s current forecast. This may include SK Hynix’s plans to invest in AI data centers; its committed investment in the Yongin wafer fab cluster is already estimated at 600 trillion won.
The analyst noted that if SK Hynix’s commitment to AI data centers and its potential capital expenditure plan are two separate investments, the memory chip manufacturer would face a significant risk of oversupply, as market demand typically slows as the capital expenditure cycle enters its final stages.
