Svmuu News: Gold prices have fallen and are expected to post their largest monthly decline since October 2008; on a quarterly basis, gold is also set to record its first quarterly decline since 2024, with the drop marking the largest since the second quarter of 2013.Although the situation in the Middle East remains uncertain, the market is now more concerned about how far the U.S. will go to curb inflation.
Edward Meir, an analyst at Marex, said that the current combination of high inflation, expectations of high interest rates, and a strong U.S. dollar has overshadowed all the factors that typically support rising gold prices.Christopher Wong, a precious metals strategist at OCBC Bank, pointed out that gold bulls need to see at least one turning point—a decline in real yields, a weaker U.S. dollar, or a significant easing of the market’s hawkish expectations regarding “Federal Reserve.” Until then, any rebound in gold prices is unlikely to be sustainable, and the price is more likely to fluctuate and consolidate below previous highs.
